Emergency SOS System faults diagnosed and fixed

VAG Bolton’s engineers are now diagnosing and fixing repairs to VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda passenger and commercial vehicles fitted with the ‘E-Call Emergency System’, otherwise knows as the SOS Emergency Call System.

What is the eCall SOS Emergency System?

The SOS Emergency Call button has been fitted to all passenger vehicles sold in the UK since 2018. Also known as eCall, pressing this button contacts the emergency services giving them the exact location of the vehicle.

Pressing the vehicles SOS button will connect you with the local emergency services call centre

The eCall SOS system is also activated automatically under certain emergency circumstances for example the activation of the vehicles airbags.

SOS Emergency System Faults – Important Notice!

The SOS system is designed to save lives. SOS system faults should be taken seriously. We urge all owners to ensure that faults are diagnosed and repaired without delay. If you suspect that your vehicle has an SOS system fault, please contact our VAG engineers to discuss your concerns.

4 Common SOS Emergency System faults

VAG Bolton’s engineers are starting to see a number of system faults connected to the vehicles SOS Emergency System. Here we list 4 common faults that can affect VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda vehicles.

1. B200049: “Control Module Faulty Internal Malfunction”

The B200049 fault code indicates a SOS system malfunction and can affect any VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda passenger vehicle along with VW Commercial vehicles such as the Caddy, Transporter and Crafter. Fault code B200049 specifically indicates a system fault relating to the vehicles SOS control module’s circuit board. This fault can also trigger other system faults for example the vehicles digital cockpit unit.

Often the control module can be removed and repaired which means significant cost savings for the vehicle’s owner Vs replacing the affected components.

2. B1915FO: “Online Authentication Not Successful”

The B1915FO fault code is related to the Onboard Control Unit (OCU) used for online services and SOS Emergency System.

This fault code affects VW, Audi, SEAT & Skoda models. Affected systems will be noticeable by the absence of the green light (SOS button) which normally indicates an active SOS Emergency System.

This fault is often caused by loss of back-up power to the vehicles OCU.

: A green SOS light indicates that the vehicles Emergency SOS system is active and functioning normally. A red light, or no light could indicate a fault with the system

3. U14FE00: “Secure Onboard Communications Signature Inspection Failed”

Fault code U14FE00 indicates a problem with the vehicles internal network communication system. This code suggests a software problem rather than a specific mechanical issue.

Your Audi or VW vehicle may require a software update if its subject to a technical service bulletin. VAG Bolton have ‘Main Dealer’ systems so that we’re able to efficiently update your vehicles software if required.

4. U111100: “Function Restriction Due To Missing Message Emergency Call Module”

Fault code U111100 indicates an internal communication failure with the onboard system module or potentially a local connection or wiring fault.
